For today’s festive Blogmas post, I thought I’d come up with something a little bit more communal – with a cheery Christmas Tag to help me get to know some of the amazing bloggers in the community!
So please allow me to introduce one completely fabulous mummy blogger – Naomi aka Me Becoming Mum – whose blog is one I aspire to create if I ever become a mum *fingers crossed*. Her posts are always so inspiring to read, and if I ever need any mummy advice I’ll know just where to go!
Introduce yourself, your blog, what you do and where you come from.
Hi, I’m Naomi and I blog over at Me Becoming Mum (www.mebecomingmum.co.uk). I like to write honest posts, keeping it real about the truths and realities of pregnancy and parenthood. I am a 25 year old wife of five and a half years, and mummy to a beautiful little girl who turned two in February 2016. We are also due our second daughter on December 18th.
Which bauble hanging from your tree is your favourite?
I don’t know how I can choose my favourite – I love our tree and all the amazing baubles we have decorating it. My favourites range from the one celebrating our first daughter’s first Christmas to the one that my husband and I had to celebrate the first Christmas we spent together. I have to say that one of the best, however, is the handmade Christmas tree that my daughter and I painted together for my husband. The baubles adorning it are made from her finger prints. It was one of the first crafty things that we ever did together, that she actively joined in with (as opposed to messy play with paint etc.!)
Least favourite Christmas song?
I, unlike my hubby, cannot stand Fairytale of New York by The Pogues. My husband loves it, but it just grates on my nerves… I have no idea why, I just can’t stand it! The most frustrating thing is that although it drives me nuts, it’s remarkably catchy and sometimes if I hear it on the radio I will find myself singing along!
Which Christmas Drink makes you feel all tingly and festive inside?
It has to be Bailey’s! It is the only time of year that I drink it. Usually, we would have a small glass on December first after finishing decorating the house; but this year as I was pregnant on the first, I didn’t get my usual tipple. Thanks to Little L being due any day, I will however get my usual Christmas Eve hot chocolate completed with a drop (or two!) of Bailey’s.
Show us your ugliest Christmas jumper
I don’t have any ugly Christmas jumpers! I only have a few; and none of them are all that bad. I also don’t have any photos of them – which is amazing as I have photos of almost everything else at Christmas time. I will certainly get some photos in the future.
If you could only watch one film over the entire Christmas period, which one would it be?
I have a number of Christmas movies that I really enjoy watching – and I think that it would probably be a tie between The Snowman – one I love to watch with my daughter – and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – one that is hilarious and a feel good film I enjoy watching with my husband.
Would you spend Christmas in another country given the choice?
Christmas abroad is not something I have ever considered, to be honest. I think that despite not necessarily seeing family on the day of Christmas, being further than our current 1.5-2 hour distance from them at my favourite time of year would not be something that I would enjoy.
I have the opportunity to see them before, on or at least at some point around Christmas. As this is a major part of what Christmas is to me, I wouldn’t give that up – not even to have sunshine at Christmas!
If I was to go abroad, the only place I would really consider would be going to Lapland. I would love to take my little ones to see Santa and his reindeer in their, ‘real’ home.
Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?
As much as I would love a white Christmas, it would be remarkable impractical with a baby on the way to wish myself a white Christmas this year!
Which festive blog posts are your favourite(s) to read?
I love to see new blog posts from my favourite blogging buddies appear in my newsfeed – especially when they are about my favourite time of year, which is of course, Christmas.
With trying to get everything ready for a baby’s imminent arrival, I don’t have as much time as I would like to read other people’s blogs at the moment.
However, I am loving The Mum Diaries’ series on her Elf on a Shelf (http://themumdiaries.co.uk/elf-on-the-shelf/). It is fun to see the photos and read her post on all the antics of her elves! Although I am not blogging about it, I am sharing social media posts of our elf having fun too!
Another post I enjoyed reading recently was a short entry from Budding Smiles who wrote about her family’s Christmas traditions (http://www.buddingsmiles.co.uk/christmas-traditions-making-special-memories/); something I myself have written about and am preparing to share on my own blog!
Finally, Five Little Dove’s post on her family trip to Lapland UK (http://fivelittledoves.com/reviews/lapland-uk-2016/) was amazing. It was so special to see her amazing photos and read about their experience. It has made me really want to go next year!
If you could find any baby animal under your Christmas tree, which one would it be?
I don’t think that I would want any more animals! I have a cat and one of her kittens from her first and only litter (an accident!) and I love them, but we have a houseful – so I certainly wouldn’t want any more!
Would you rather lose your Christmas or your birthday, should you have to miss one?
Christmas is my favourite time of year – I love everything about it. Since having children, Christmas is so much more special to me. I would not mind losing my birthday – it is not something that is especially important in my life these days. Although we do a small celebration of some sort, I much prefer the experience of Christmas and seeing the joy on my daughter’s face!
Everything from seeing the town lights switched on to decorating our home; from visiting Santa to the gifts we give each other – there is nothing more awesome than celebrating Christmas with little ones!
Thank you so much for reading!
